Many people choose to paper the walls of some rooms or the entire house instead of painting them. It is an original way to decorate the house, but at the time of cleaning may raise some difficulties.
The first thing we must do when we want to do the cleaning of papered walls is read the manufacturer’s instructions, as there are various compositions and types of paper and each one requires a different care. In them you will find the tips and cleaning methods suitable for the type of paper you have. It is very important to know if the wallpaper is washable: if so, as a general rule, we will put warm water into a bowl and add a bit of neutral detergent, then we will wet a cloth slightly and clean the surface with smooth strokes and long movements; if the paper is not washable we can only apply a special sponge for dry cleaning on the surface, making long and smooth strokes to remove dirt.
If you simply want to remove fingerprints and small spots you can use delicately a soft eraser on the surface, without straining or performing very fast movements, as you could discolor the paper or even break it.
Whatever the type of wallpaper you have before cleaning it is always necessary to remove the dust with a cloth, and never use abrasive products.
